7) ASK YOURSELF THIS:
It comes down to this basic question: Would you prefer to be told that you have no choice but to live within as little as 1,000 feet of these Industrial Wind Turbines, or would you prefer to be protected by a 6,500' setback requirement? This is the choice you must make clear to the Litchfield Town Board.
P.S.) Please do not confuse the proposed Ordinance, which was supported by a significant majority of the 10-person Committee, with another draft found on the Litchfield Town Web site. This “alternate draft” as the Town refers to it, was submitted by a lone dissenting Committee Member, who started with an outdated Schoharie County proposed Ordinance, which was never adopted by Schoharie County. This lone Committee Member simply submitted the document with a few changes highlighted in red. What is important to note is that this “alternate draft” – that the Town may possibly be considering – requires a minimum setback of only 1,000’ from any residence. Such a small setback is unacceptable by today’s standards, and here is the important question to consider: do you believe that this lone dissenting Committee Member is looking out for your interests as a Town Resident with a proposed 1,000’ setback? We hardly think so.
